E-Cell (EDI)

Electrodeionization (EDI) is a water treatment technology that is highly efficient and meets the most strigent environmental standards. Successful commercial applications date back to 1987. Until now, however, the high capital cost of EDI equipment has limited its widespread use in large industrial applications.

E-Cell flexibility and dependable performance is based on a modular building block concept. Individual ion-exchange membrane and resin pairs are assembled into E-Cell stacks. Each E-Cell Stack is capable of delivering 12.5 gpm nominal of treated water. Stacks are mounted into standard horizontal or vertical racks and systems, providing outputs of 25, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 300 gpm. Standard systems cam be combined with any combination of stacks to meet the required flow rate.

Cost is comparable to resin systems

Ultrapure water without chemicals

Voltage applied across ion-exchange membranes and mixed resins purify feed water to effluent levels exceeding 16 Mohm-cm. The process maintains the resins in a purified state, so hazardous caustic and acid regeneration chemicals aren't required. You can count on consistent water quality, month in and month out. Resins in EDI systems don't exhaust, unlike convential resin beds where quality begins to drop soon after regeneration.
