In
refineries, offshore production and oil field reflooding, process
water and steam condensate can be contaminated with oil. When
this happens, the oil-laden condensate can cause maintenance
and operating problems in downstream equipment. The valuable
oil is also wasted since it's difficult and costly to recover.
Our coalescer is a simple, maintenance-free
oil-water separator. It's a continuous process that can achieve
an oil-water separation efficiency of 95% and above. That means
process steam condensate is virtually oil-free so there's no
oil carryover to the boiler. Additionally, our coalescer provides
an easy cost effective means of recovering entrained oil.
Precoat-type filters are the traditional
means of removing oil from petroleum refinery condensate. These
filters require frequent backwash and the oil-saturated discharge
they produce must be handled through the plant waste system.
The coalescer, on the other hand, produces
a clean condensate and recovers water-free oil. No further handling
or tratment of effluent water is required. Also, our system offers
a number of other advantages:
- Simplicity of design and operation
- There are no moving parts, and therefore
the level of maintenance is low. The only removable interbnals
are the inlet headed and the strainers.
- The level of manpower is low, sample collecting
and guage reading only.
- Low treatment costs and higher availability
- The oleophilic properties are built into
the resin, and therefore, there is no reliance on either plant
operator or pump reliability for chemical dosing (polyelectrolyte,
etc.) This also makes plant operation independent of flow variation
and the consequentia; need for chemical dosage variation.
- No chemical addition is usually required
for precoat or body feed; therefore, there are no additional
waste disposal problems.
- The resin has excellent thermal stability
and has been designed for operation up to 250 F. The advantages
of this high operating temperature are:
- heat exchangers are not required on the
influent to the coalescer
- the heat content of the feed stream is
retained and make a significant contribution to the energy requirement
of any system in which it is recycled.
- The resin is guaranteed for one (1) year
and has a ling service life. One installation has been operating
satisfactorily for over seven (7) years without any apparent
deterioation of the olephilic material or loss of trated water
quality. The above guarantee is based on water quality encountered
during testing and the system being operated according to the
Graver instruction manual.
- The process is continuous and self-regenerating.
- The resin can be operated over a wide
pH range (pH 2-12)
